Target audience: This article is primarily aimed at instructors who wish to record lectures, but are not teaching in classrooms that support the Lecture Recording System. However, any faculty or staff member who teaches or trains may use Camtasia for their recording needs.
In this article:
The current version of Camtasia available here for download requires Window's 64-bit operating system. If your computer is running an older operating system (e.g., 32-bit), follow these steps to download an older version:
Note: Camtasia is not needed to capture videos of PowerPoint slides. See how to record a PowerPoint slideshow with narration for more information.
Instructors whose lecture rooms are not equipped for automatic Lecture Recordings can use Camtasia to record their own lectures, demonstrations, or student presentations. The software captures the video of screen animation; the laptop's internal microphone (or an external microphone plugged into the computer) can be used to capture the audio portion of the lecture. Once recorded and converted to web format, lectures can be uploaded to myCourses or Stream (video sharing platform) on Microsoft 365.
Instructors recording their lectures with Camtasia have full editing and publication control of their recordings.
See the Camtasia Tutorials to record and edit your screen or use the PowerPoint Add-In Toolbar.
See Manage Lecture Recordings in myCourses on the Teaching and Learning Services knowledge base for more information on uploading your recordings for students or publish your video using Stream (video sharing platform).
