- Posting a message in a discussion
How to use the audio recording feature
Recorded audio will appear as one of the following links below the discussion message, announcement, or assignment description:
- a .wav file (if you are using Internet Explorer or Edge) or
- an HTML page with the recording embedded (if you are using Chrome or Firefox)
Creating a recording
To add an audio recording to an announcement, discussion post, or assignment:
- Access the page for creating an announcement, discussion post, or assignment.
- Click Record Audio.
- Your experience will differ depending on your browser:
- Edge: The first time you open the capture audio feature, the Adobe Flash Player Settings pop-up window will appear. Select Allow.
- Chrome or Firefox: A message will appear below your address bar when you try to change your microphone settings or record audio. Click Allow (or click the camera icon on the right side of your address bar) to give myCourses access to your microphone.
- To start recording, click New Recording.
While you are recording, Stop Recording will be highlighted.
- To stop the recording, press the Stop Recording button. You can press the record button again to create a new recording.
- Press the play button to play back the recording to check that it worked.
- When finished recording, click Add.
You will see an additional screen asking you to enter a title and description for your recording. You can skip this extra step by leaving the fields blank and clicking Add. However, the file's name will be assigned automatically with a meaningless name.
- Submit/Publish your message or assignment.
Removing a recording
