This article refers to a process used on sites that have not been migrated to the New WMS yet.

OVERVIEW

Target audience: Site Administrators, Site Managers

McGill Profiles in the Web Management System (WMS) allows information from Banner to automatically update the profile. When the Banner update process runs, any profile fields that are set to "Update from Banner" will pull in new data.

Profile Settings

  1. Go to Structure > McGill Profile Field settings and click the Settings tab at the top.
  2. Unpublishing Options: These options determine what happens when the person is no longer listed in Banner. (Note: This will not affect any profile pages you have created from scratch.)
    • Unpublish node will unpublish the profile page. When a person becomes an inactive staff member in Banner, their profile becomes unpublished. Unpublished profiles appear in pink when logged into the site.
    • Skip node will simply leave the information on the profile page unchanged. When the daily Banner import is run, if the person has become an inactive staff member in Banner, instead of unpublishing the profile, the import will 'skip' it and leave the Banner-created profile in the Published state.
  3. Name Search - Maximum Results: Allows you to set the maximum number of names that are returned when you are searching through Banner to create a new profile.
  4. Update Hour: Select the hour of the day when profiles will be updated daily. Profiles may be updated within an hour after the time selected.
  5. Click Save Settings.

Run McGill Profiles Manually

If some Banner data has recently changed, you can run the update process immediately by clicking Update Profiles Now. The changes will be reflected in your profile pages immediately.
