Create a Hero block in the WMS

This article refers to a process used on sites that have not been migrated to the New WMS yet.

OVERVIEW

Target audience: Site Administrators, Site Managers

Use Hero blocks to display an image at the top of a Web Management System (WMS) web page that spans the width of the viewer’s browser window:

In this article:

Create a Hero block

  1. Go to My Workbench and click on the Create Content tab.
  2. Click McGill Hero.
  3. Fill out the following:
    • Label: Enter the name of the block that will appear on the Block Administration page. This name will not be visible to site visitors.
    • Image: Upload the image to be used for this block. Follow the instructions in the help text below the field.


Configure a Hero block

To place the block on a page, from the Administration toolbar, click Structure > Blocks. Follow the instructions to Manage blocks in the WMS.

Note: Hero blocks can only be placed in the Highlighted region. 


Edit / delete a Hero block

Follow the instructions on Editing or deleting a block in the WMS.
